Does anyone have any knowledge of presence of african blackwood in south africa? I know Tanzania is a big supplier. however my travels will be just to south africa. I would like to delight in the presence of a live Mpingo? tree. Is that the true african name of the tree?

According to Wikipedia (who knows if it's correct or not) there is African Blackwood in South Africa: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African_Blackwood

mk -

Go to http://www.blackwoodconservation.org/ and http://wapedia.mobi/en/African_Blackwood for extensive resources.

The oboist Brenda Schuman-Post is deeply -- one might say obsessively -- concerned with preservation of the tree. http://www.oboesoftheworld.com/
