Selmer 10s

Recently I bought a nice second hand Selmer 10s Clarinet: it's in good general status.
The cork on the tenon of the upper piece is too big, it's like too much expanded so it's hard to fit the barrel on it.
Since in order to take apart the clarinet I must employ some force, I am afraid to ruin it.
Is there a method easy and fast in order to arrange the problem?

Choice of 2 simple fixes:
1. A tech can pare down the tenon cork
2. or widen the socket of the barrel.

The Selmer tenons and sockets are rather variable in size.

It could be, but not necessarily. The dimensions DO change over time.
