Well, things are not too bad recently in the attic cleaning chores in the neighborhood which just brought me - a Selmer 10 several weeks ago - and now an Evette Master Model Serial # D329xx - any ideas on production date? It is stamped made in France.
Thanks,

Hi Omar,
I'm gonna guess it's somewhere around late 70's-very early 80's....
I've seen some from about that time that have bodies made in France
but with German (E11-type) keywork....someone else may have
a more accurate answer for you though!
It's prolly a good sounding horn.
If the keywork was made in France, the bridge key would have the "ears" the upper joint. The German keywork has the ears on the lower....

Hi Omar,
I have D363xx (French Evette MM). The person who sold it to me told me her parents bought it for her new in 1976. My recollection is that Buffet moved production of the the Evette models to Germany in 1978. The Evette MM was the predecessor to the E12.
Best regards,
jnk

Doc, I have an Evette Master Model in my possession. It's my wife's old clarinet, and it also served duty for my daughter and later for me, until each of us upgraded. They are pretty decent horns. Good clarinets for the money! Ours is a D 223XX and I believe it dates back to the mid-to-late 1960s. It still has very nice wood on it, even given its heavy use. Of course, it has been treated with love and GrenadOil!

Thanks all - I am constantly amazed at the wealth of knowledge and help displayed by the BB folks. The Evette is already recycled with a little cleaning, some new pads and cork to a student - it is a nice player. I like to tell students some history and lore about older horns so that they are not embarrassed by having a wonderful, but not new horn.

Doc, that Master Model got my daughter through her formative uears of 5th through 10th grade. That Christmas she got my 1971 R13 that I recovered from the guy I sold it to back in '78. The r13 still plays very nicely, with the exception of being a bit out of tune on the forked Eb/Bb fingering. The Evettte is now my backup instrument.
