 Omni pads

Hi

I'm considering using Omni pads in addition to bladder pads which I already use. I'm wondering if anyone here have Omni pads on their clarinet, and if you do, what you think about them.

I'd like to know a few things specifically:

1. How they feel. I mean the feel when the pad touches the tone hole.

2. How they sound. I'm talking about the sound (some call it noise) when the pad hits the tone hole and/or lifts from the tone hole.

3. If you ever needed to replace an Omni pad, why? I was told that "they do not change, and do not degrade".

For 1 and 2 I'm interested in a comparison with other pads. I've tried almost any pad I know of, and prefer the sound (noise) of bladder pads when they hit the tone hole, they are not too loud but not too quiet, plus I like the specific noise they make. I also prefer the feel of bladder pads (at least the type I found that I like) over other pads. I think that the Omni pad might have most of the advantage that I like in bladder pads but would last as long as any pad could last.

Thanks!

Superpads is the future. The bass clarinet that my former teacher had serviced with Eddy Asthon(don't know if it's correctly spelled) and all the pads replaced with superpads is the best playing clarinet after been serviced I've ever seen. Is so much more quiet and it cut much better through the orchestra(along with Grabner Lawrie Bloom mouthpiece which is a masterpiece).

....if you want to follow that up. (It's Ashton, BTW.)

I could explain the reasons why I don't like the Superpads (I know their advantages too) but that's irelevant since if I remember right, you can only have them installed by Eddy Ashton in the UK. So, I'm still interested in the information I asked about the Omni pads.

Or maybe Omni pads are, that's what I'm interested in finding out. Have you tried the Omnis?
I think it's possible they might have the advantages of other synthetic pads without the disadvantages, but I'm not sure yet which is why I'm trying to find out from any player who used them for a while.

Thanks.
