Author: tomduncan

I have misplaced a book of novelty duets . . .palindromes, symmetrical, "upside down", rondelays, etc. and hope someone can help with a lead to a source for this.

Thanks,

Tom

Was it an orange and black cover book? I don't have time right now to look, but I remember having something like that which had orange, white and black in the cover.

Familiar??

It was called "Duet Sessions" by Livingston Gearhart (Shawnee Press) and yes, it has an orange and black cover.

There is also a similar book titled "Clarinet Sessions" by Don Cassel and Livingston Gearhart. Also by Shawnee Press, it has novelty pieces for 2, 3 and 4 clarinets.

I use them both with my students for sight reading and they always bring a few smiles from the kids...GBK

I think I've actually played one or two piece from that book! I have to check it out. Thanks!

Alexi

(as I recall, I played a piece where you flattened out a music stand and one person read it from the top down, and the other person read it from the bottom up, upside-down, and a piece where one person started at the beginning going to the end, and the other read it from the end going to the beginning - FUN STUFF!)
