Hi,
I own a BC20 serial number F100284. I checked it's manufacture date on this site (http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Equipment/HowOld/Buffet.html)
It says that my clarinet was made in 1968. I'm not sure though, could someone confirm for me that this is correct.
Also would anyone know of a rough estimate on reatil value on my instrument?

My Buffet serial number F103xxx was mfgrd in 1968. Im not familiar with the BC20 but I think the retail value would depend on the overall condition of your instrument. Some people prefer the older instruments.

Could you post a pic of your clarinet. I had never heard of a BC 20 and would like to see one,thanks!!!! And are you talking about how much it's worth on %Bay? Or in the general market?

Two weeks before my junior recital my R13 cracked. David Widder, my teacher at the time, loaned me a BC20 in the duration.
I recall it being a fine horn. I believe that he told me that it was a european model at the time (but junior year was ages ago).

The BC20 was only made for the European market and obviously is tuned around 442 - 445. They actually stopped making the BC20 around 1984 - 85.
It is a great horn, very clear sounding, and even over the entire range. I absolutely love my BC20. I've been playing on it for 5 years now and the only reason i'd buy a new one is if this one was not repairable.
People say the older the clarinet the better, but i think it only applies to certain clarinets and this is definitely one of those.

For many years Buffet (and Selmer and Leblanc) offered many permutations of keywork from the standard 17/6 right up to full boehm.
This one has just the fork Eb/Bb mechanism.
I own various instruments that have 2, 3, and all 4 of the extra keys possible.

Just by way of clarification, the one you show makes it an 18-key, 7-ring clarinet (the left hand thumb has a ring that is an articulated motion). The fork Eb/Bb is probably the most fiddly to regulate, but shows up the most often. The articulated C#/G# is (IMHO) the most valuable if you play the saxophone, although I dislike the extra sliver key that comes with it as it takes up valuable 'finger space'.
