How to tell Silver Buffet R-13 serial number from Nickel keys?

I remember reading somewhere that the serial number distinguished the nickel plating from silver, but anyone know just what the difference is?

(just the -2 in the serial number if I recall?)

It's in the model number, not the serial number. From the Buffet Crampon website:

BC1131-2-0 Bb (silver plated keys)
BC1131G-2-0 Bb Green Line(silver plated keys)
BC1131-5-0 Bb (nickel plated keys)
BC1131G-5-0 Bb Green Line (nickel plated keys)
BC1231-2-0 A (silver plated keys)
BC1231-5-0 A (nickel plated keys)
BC1231G-2-0 A Green Line (silver plated keys)
BC1131L Bb with Eb lever
BC1231L A with Eb lever
BC1531-2-0 Eb (silver plated keys)

AFAIK, there is no way to tell from the serial numbers, which are, again AFAIK, assigned sequentially to production.

Thanks Jack. I was using the aerial number to get the model number. Wrote serial by mistake.
