HI!
I am new here.
My mother just handed over her 1960’s Le Blanc Bb clarinet to me. I played this instrument as a grade school kid and then it was loaned out to my cousin to play. My aunt recently found it in her closet and returned it to my mother.
Now, it’s mine and I’d really like to get it fixed up. Maybe even try to take up playing it again.
I was wondering how much an overhaul for something like this would run me. The instrument is not cracked or anything. It’s not been played in 20 years or so, so I imagine it needs cork and pads and likely keys tightened.
Would it be worth having fixed? And if so, does anyone know where in the Chicagoland area is a good place to take it?

Hi V S, Congrats, a great "reunion" ! If you can tell us its model name, Classic, Dynamic, LL, Symphonie, L7-?2000?, Opus, Concerto and/or serial number, our knowledgable LeBlanc friends can give you comments and advice. I'm familiar with the Classic, Dynamic and L7, fine cls. Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

It's a Classic. I couldn't find a serial number, though I admit I didn't look very closely.
It was bought new in about 1965 or so, somewhere in Illinois. My Mother played first clarinet in her highschool band and they were invited to play a tour in Germany in 1968, I think. She talks about it to this day.
I don't think the original mouth piece is in order. Though I do believe it is still in the case. The mouth piece that fits it now was bought by my aunt.
I remember playing this instrument in my little gradeschool band. The others had plastic clarinets and the didn't even begin to touch the sound of my LeBlanc.
I'd appreciate any info you can throw my way!
