 Thicker mouthpiece patch

I wanted to try a thicker patch and, there being no commercial ones readily available to me, I made one from a self-adhesive rubber patch from a bicycle tire repair kit. It works very well, but , does anyone know whether there is anything toxic in this type of rubber ?
I am actually a physician and I would look rather foolish if I poisoned myself !
