 Nielsen International Concerto Competition
Author: rob v.

Hello, I am looking for some historical information on the Nielsen International Concerto Competition.

Who started it?
Why was it started? (Obviously in remembrance of Carl Nielsen)
When was it started? (1980)

It seems that it was originally for the violin, then they incorporated the clarinet and flute into the competition around 1997 and 1998.

I have looked on the Odense Symphony website and didn't find any history regarding the International Concerto Competition.

Any information/guidance would greatly be appreciated...

Rob V.

See the article in The Clarinet magazine, volume 25 number 1 (Nov/Dec 1997) "The First Carl Nielsen Clarinet Competition"
