problem with new clarinet!!

i have recently bought a Buffet E13 clarinet and a vandoren B40 mouthpiece but my new clarinet and mouthpiece don't fit me. when i blow it is like i flex my muscels too much, i have to use much more air than i use to and the tone is more hoarse. i have now tried to get used to my new clarinet for a month but right now i just prefer my old plastic clarinet;) (i have tried with different reed sizes) do you guys have an idee to what the problem is????

Try using your other mouthpiece (the one you're used to) to see if this helps. Then after some time, change over to the B40 but use different reeds to what you've been playing on your other mouthpiece - try half a strength softer to see if this makes things easier.

Also have somebody check your Clarinet for leaks - often they do leak when new as a pad shifts.

I agree that you should go back to your old mouthpiece for a while and then when you move to the B40 use a 2 1/2 strength or softer than you're currently using.

David B. is also correct to suggest you have your new one checked for leaks or bent keys or some other problem that might be hindering your playing.

I would think its the mp your using. There's nothing wrong with it, but it just doesn't work for you. I suggest going to a music instrument store and trying several different mps. Thats most likely the root of your problem. Have you tried the B40 on your old clarinet?
if you play the B40 on your old clarinet, and it works fine, then the problem may be in the clarinet. In that case I third David's suggestion.
