Hans, I agree. About 15 years ago, I heard Chuck completely steal the spotlight from Buddy DeFranco at the Bunny Berigan Jazz Festival in Fox Lake, WI. Chuck was the opening act and when Buddy took the stage, it was "no contest"--not even close.

This guy didn't just fall off the turnip truck. He was apparently a pretty well respected recording artist in the Netherlands in the 1980s, but he took a break from playing clarinet to practice medicine. I found this with Google:
