As some of you may know, I've been playing alto and bari sax for about four years now. I really took to heart playing clarinet, and I got it today!
I've been playing for about 20 minutes, and I can get fifteen or so notes out. (Don't know the names though.)
I just wanted to say that....
BTW, it's a Vito...

Congrats, BSG, you have joined a good group. With your saxes playing in Eb, the cl in Bb, you will have one sharp less to work with [against?]. If you haven't already discovered, the sax's lower register and the cl's "chalemeau" read and finger the same, Sometimes making the transposition of one to the other less difficult. Have fun, Don
Thanx, Mark, Don

I noticed that the fingerings are quite the same in what you call the "chalemeau".
I haven't played sax yet, I hope it's okay.

TJ
congratulations !!
Best of luck with this new endeavor.
Have fun learning the clarinet. Take it slow, develop the different embouchure and stay focused.
......and remember, it's a register key (12th) not an octave key as on the sax.
regards
d

I like you started with sax and then am adding clarinet. It's a harder way to go than clarinet to sax, but keep at it. I also started with a Vito which is a very nice student instrument. I still have and use mine sometimes.
Good luck and read this board. It's a wealth of information.
Leonard
