Has anyone got any real world experience with a Clark Fobes Eb extension on a Buffet E-11 Eb clarinet?

I'll even entertain opinions on the extension in general...

They work great. It makes the tone and response of the long notes better by making them speak from a tone hole, rather than being bell notes. It also helps the break across the register. It is a wonderful invention. Clark is a great acoustician.

I wonder why Bb clarinet is not equipped with this.

You can make a one piece bell with this extention.

You can make even with two holes with dummy pad cups,I think this will

look better and works better.

Anyway, this idea has been around more than 100 years.

At least one maker apparently does: http://www.laripamonti.com/instruments.html

Also, just wondering... are similar benefits obtained from a full Boehm Bb clarinet (or at any rate one going to low Eb)? Obviously not for the low Eb itself, but for the other long notes?

I had a rosewood extension worked on by a good tech to fit it on my Noblet Artist. Turns out it works great with this instrument as well. It was a gamble but I'm glad I did it :)

Are we still talking about Eb extentions? At any rate, I just got one for my Buffet RC Eb and I feel it serves its purpose. It does lower the clarion B,C, and C#. I also found that it evened out the timbre of the low clarion and the transition between registers slightly. I don't think the overall tone was helped much. In fact, I am usually very reluctant to add a piece than diffuses the sound in any way, which this does. This is the reason I don't play Backun equipment. In this case, though, helping the pitch as much as possible is my first priority.

If i had to guess, I'd say it should work fine on an E11. I just question putting more money into an Eb that is not very refined to begin with.
