He was associate conductor, 1934-69 ,of the Allentown Band while I was living in Allentown and I heard many of his performances with the band. Check with them through their web site

Is this the Calliet who made a number? of arrangements for concert band from orchestral scores ? We finally found one of the Der Rosenkavalier Waltzes [R Strauss], reh'd and played it , Great, would like to find more !! Don, Tulsa Comm Band

I presume you mean Lucian Calliet, the legendary arranger. Google did not provide much information, but his son, Claude, is an instructor at the University of Wisconsin, Baraboo campus. He may be responsive to your questions regarding his father--his email: <ccaillie@uwc.edu>

I'd remembered the name Lucien Cailliet (note spelling) from the late 1950's; he was featured several times in the Leblanc Bandsman, distributed free to school students (and probably any interested person). I just searched the name and came up with quite a lot, a snippet of which is below. Hope that this might help. Good luck!

Lucien Cailliet lived in Palos Verdes, California which is south of Los Angeles and was active in the Los Angeles area, I've heard. I have his method for saxophone, book 2, as I recall.
