Rather daft thing to ask as so many of you are in the states, but does anyone know of a good sheet music shop in London, UK? Preferably one with lots of trombone music.........

I know that's quie a long shot on a clarinet board!

The only one that springs to mind is Phil Parker http://www.philparker.co.uk/

The three I'd recomend are Howarths, Chappels and Foyles. These are generally good for clarinet music. Boosey and Hawkes was always good but since it's move it is not as comprehensive as it once was.

Howarth don't stock trombone music.

If you don't mind "ebrowsing" rather than flicking through sheets in a shop, I have never been disappointed with June Emerson

Kensington Chimes in South Kensington is pretty small, but has a decent selection.

You can also try the libraries, if you just need something temporarily--the Barbican has a pretty good amount of sheet music, and the Victoria Library is also supposed to be very good.

Thanks to all for the timely responses.

I made it to Parkers in the end and I'm now over 40 quid the poorer...but they had what I wanted so all is good.

Close to Howarth's isn't it Chris!

I printed myself out a map and wandered along the street thinking, it's never going to be this easy to find. But then about 100 meters away I could hear people testing brass instruments. Didn't need the map at all!

I've never ventured as far as Phil Parker's as I usually stopped once I got to Howarth (and my money ran out), via All Flutes Plus (which is no longer there) and the Early Music Shop (which is now the London Harpsichord Centre) when wandering up Chiltern St. from Baker St. station.

And the other reason being that I'm not a brass player. If I was, I would have made them my first port of call.

But I rarely ever go up to London, the last time was in February and it was by coach, but during the free time we had I avoided Howarth's London shop as I wanted to have some money left in my wallet. I can never leave without buying something.

I suffer from the same problem!

I went into Howarth's on Chiltern last week. Now saving hard for the oboe I want. The money spent today was from the trombone pot, which is totally different. And after all, you can never have too much sheet music can you?
