Hi, I found a clarinet at home which my father found at a junkyard several years ago. But it doesn't look like the usual clarinets. Do anyone know were I can find more info about this?

Heres a few pictures.

This is a "simple system" or Albert clarinet, now largely obsolete but still favoured by some jazz players.
Try searching on "simple system clarinet" or similar

Much in demand by players of Eastern European music.

But definitely not in demand for band or orchestra in the US.

In particular, the one you have lacks various key improvements and will be difficult to play in keys with 2 or more sharps or flats.

If you want to learn to play, and think you'll never go beyond relatively simple music, go ahead. If you want to play with others, I advise getting a Boehm system instrument.

Also, before you spend any money on repairs, make sure it's at low pitch. Look at any stampings in the wood (scrub them with a damp toothbrush to get the crud out). If you see L.P., you're fine. If you see H.P., you won't be able to play it with anyone. If there's no stamp, compare the length with another clarinet. One at high pitch will be more than an inch shorter.
