I'm not certain that a clarinet advertised in my local paper as a "Bundy" is actually a Bundy, although the case bears the name. I can't seem to find it on any of the serial number look ups. It is wooden with serial number S12830. The bell says "Andre Chabot"--I did find some stuff about that manufacturer. Anyone have any idea where this clarinet came from?

When buying a used clarinet, the case will often have no bearing on the clarinet inside.

A Bundy clarinet has a bell that also says Bundy, although the trademark logo may be faded over time.

If it is a replacement/substitute bell, (which it sounds like it is), it will have little to no effect on the sound... GBK

True. It's always worth looking inside a Bundy case at a live auction, flea market, "junktiques" store, etc.. Those Bundy cases are roomy and sturdy. I've bought empty Bundy cases several times, to use for clarinets that I'd bought with no cases or wrecked cases. If I croaked off tomorrow and my clarinets went up for sale, anybody who sniffed at those Bundy cases and moved on without opening them would be making a big mistake!

True, the Bundy box my ol' plastic bass came in is an awesome piece of kit.

Try the search feature. Looks like they were student level clarinets imported into USA.
