 Original Copland

I know this subject has come up before, but is there a printed version of the "original" Copland concerto, pre-benny edit? I have read the article in the Clarinet about "Too Difficult for Benny...", and assumed all of the alterations were there (the high C#'s at the end of the cadenza and finale, and the nasty passage after 441). Then I heard Neidich's recording, and I seem to remember there are a lot more changes he plays, though it was a couple of years ago that I listened to it, so maybe he only does the changes mentioned in the article. Does anyone know what these additional changes are?

Another random question about the concerto, Copland said "a phrase from a currently popular Brazilian tune, heard by me in Rio, became embedded in the secondary material." Does anyone know what this tune is? Is he talking about the groovin' section at Q?

Try contacting the San Fransisco Symphony's conducter. I recently sa a documentary about Copland on PBS. This director was EXTREMELY close to Copland. He may know where such parts are located, or know someone who may know someone who knows.......you get the point.
....dang "six degrees of seperation"

I believe the Brazilian tune is the 3/4 section from 176 to 187, which appears again around 324 to 365. I once tried to identify the tune with no luck, but these are the sections that clearly have a Brazilian influence, if you listen to some Brazilian music from the era when the piece was written (1948-50).
