Hello,
Does anyone have a recommendation about the best place to purchase this part for clarinet. I've been searching with some frustration. Thanks.

Rhapsody in Blue is published by Warner/Chappell and rentals are handled by European American Music Distributors LLC http://www.eamdllc.com/rental.cfm

they dont rent individual parts
and they dont rent to individuals
one infers from this that i can not purchase the 1st clarinet part somewhere...
without intending to reopen numerous old copyright law threads, this is the reason photocopied music is so widespread
the study score i have is a nusiance to blow up large enough for me to read on my scanner - but i guess thats what i'll have to do
and i'm perfectly willing to spend money and purchase a copy ; ben too, apparently.
growl...

Hello,
Thanks to all the generous members of this board. I've gotten a part. I wonder why an orchestra would make this one of the audition excerpts if the music were unavailable. Perhaps it's in an excerpt book that I don't own.
It's kind of funny, I play that solo as an introduction every time I play "I've Got Rhythm" at a jazz gig. After seeing the written notes, it seems I've been playing it correctly!

The clarinet excerpts for the Rhapsody in Blue (including the opening glissando) are found in the symphonic repertoire book The Orchestral Clarinetist volume III, by Kalman Bloch ...GBK
