Since when? I met him in Geneva only last October when I was in the competition. He seemed fit and well. Any idea how?

Brush up your French:

If my French is right, he had an accident in Madeira.

As I read it, the story just says that he "died suddenly" and doesn't mention an accident.

This site mentions an accident as well.
Interestingly, neither the German nor the English version mention him yet.

My French is rusty but I think it does mention an accident or crash. Any how it's a shame he was a really pleasant man to talk to. RIP.

One of my favorites; a great loss to the Swiss and the clarinet world generally.

His recording with Tony Pay is really good. Will be missed. Very good player.

Specially, I recommend to all of you his recording of "Pleyel, Molter and Mercadante"on Claves Records.

He was programmed as every summer on the Tibor Varga Summer Academy, in Sion, Switzerland.

A great musician, pedagogue and player.

friday night on Espace 2 a swiss radio, there going to be a special emission about him in " Pavillon Suisse".

He was a fantastic teacher and a great man. I'll never forget him like many of us.

don't know if this still needs to be said, but for all of you who don't know yet what happened to him, Thomas fell off an 80-meter cliff while trekking with his wife. This was at 12:50 GMT. Help came only like 2 hours later. May he rest in peace until we all meet again.

please listen to this, too
