Does anyone know about this reed making equipment that is advertised in the clarinet journal?

Seems intriguing and a step up from a ReedDual

(Disclaimer - I sell Xilema reeds)
The UHL equipment is sophisticated machinery used to make reeds using a computer profile of a model reed. This equipment is more for moderate to large production of reeds and used by reed making factories. I saw it in operation at the Xilema factory and from their view it makes very consistant reeds. The price may be a little steep for an individual to make their own reeds and is definitely an overkill on an individual basis in the number of reeds that can be made at any given time. The footprint too would take up several square meters with exhausting tubes and feed bed.

Hello,

(Disclaimer: I sell Xilema reeds too!)
I think the machine which was advertised recently in the Clarinet magazine is different from the machine that Inma has at Xilema. I think (and this is only opinion-I don't have any first-hand knowldege) that Mr. Hermann Uhl is now marketing a machine for individuals. However, I still do agree with the Doctor that even a small machine from Mr. Uhl will be very expensive. He's a brilliant engineer who is interested in clarinet reeds. He's used his engineering skills to make these machines that combine advanced CAD technology with CNC technology. If you're interested in them, go to the source to ask questions!

Indeed, both of you are correct. The prices listed on the web site are expensive by individual standards and would prohibit anyone from buying it for other than commercial properties.

I did not see any item that was within reach or for use by an individual, however I did not examine the web site at great length.

What piqued my interest is the application of current technologies to create options beyond the current oligopoly of Vandoren, Rico, and the other biggies.

What this inventor has created seems like a very useful tool and more accurate than the 50 year old ReedDual that most people use when making reeds.
