Hello, need some help here.
Yesterday me and some friends gathered to play some woowind quintets. We tried Danzi, op 56, nr 1 and some other stuff in order to pick up one for a concert this summer.
Our french horn player had brought a quintet by P. Müller. An old score printed out from a website. It was quite amusing, a little Beehoven, and a little something else. Our bassonplayer and frensch hornplayer liked it a lot cause it had some fun stuff even for them.
The thing is. None of us know anything about P. Müller. I tried some googling and got only one hit that might be him, Paul Müller, but no other info.
So please help us out here.
The name is Quintetto nr 1. Its in E flat and the parts is: Larghetto- Allegro, Scherzo (trio), Larghetto and Allegro Molto.
Any information would be appreciated.

Could this be your composer? Although he's contemporary, this entry says he wrote in a style that sounds compatible with the piece you played.
I don't have a Grove's dictionary, but perhaps he might be cited there, as well.

Died: July 21, 1993 - Lucerne, Switzerland
The esteemed Swiss conductor and composer, Paul Müller-Zürich (real name, Müller), studied with Andreae and Jarnach at the Zürich Conservatory (1917-1919) and in Paris and Berlin.
Paul Müller-Zürich then taught in Zürich at the Conservatory from 1927 to 1969 and at the University from 1959 to 1970. He was active as a choral and symphonic conductor, serving as director of the EIisabeth Schmid Choir from 1931 to 1939, the Lucerne Chamber Orchestra from 1948 to 1955, and other ensembles. His music evolved from early Romantic influences to reflect neo-Baroque practices in a contemporary, tonal style.

Thanks - but no, I dont think thats my composer.
The quintet is written in typical romantic style and the score looks old, not 20:th century.
It might be Peter Müller 1791-1877. He wrote three quintets and the first is
in E-flat.
But there´s not much information about him.
Please help me...

The Voxman "Selected Studies for Clarinet" Rubank No. 78 has several bits by Muller. Voxman is still with us, but was lazy about telling us who his composers were.
There are also Muller exercises --mostly cute bits-- in the Langenus Method books.
I hope this tread will turn up more about the man.

The Bacchus Wind Quintet has some stuff in their repertoire of one Muller (Quintet No 1 in E flat, Quintet No 2 in E flat and Quintet No 3 in A).
Maybe they know more?

You are correct -- the quintet you inquired about some time ago is indeed by Peter Müller (1791-1877). He wrote three such woodwinds quintets, stylistically very similar to the more famous quintets by Anton Reicha (the reason you found some Beethoven stylistic qualities in the Müller's work is that he was influenced by Reicha and Reicha was influenced by Beethoven).
All three Müller quintets can be found for free downloading on the IMSLP/Petrucci Music Library (Petrucci Project) website:
http://imslp.org/wiki/3_Wind_Quintets_(Müller,_Peter), but all three are also available in modern editing/revision by Waterhouse from the publisher, Musica Rara.
While Müller composed three such Quintets, in my opinion Quintetto No. 2 is by far the best and seems to be the most performed (similar to the way Reicha's Quartet Op. 88/No.2 is the most popular).
