I finally had a chance to see this video, which was of particular interest to me since I'm working on this concerto for an April performance with the University of Richmond orchestra. I've always loved the Spohr concerti, and am happy to have the opportunity to play one, finally.
I found the performance very nice, and I learned about a clarinetist I didn't know before, so thanks to whoever posted this.
I also found it interesting to see and hear Peter Maag conduct this performance. Didn't he also conduct an LP recording in the late 1950's with Gervase DePeyer?

Peter Maag conducted an LP recording of the Mozart Concerto with DePeyer, probably sometime in the late 50's for London Records.
He may have conducted DePeyer in a Spohr but I suspect the recording you are thinking of was a L'Oiseau Lyre recording of Weber 2 and Spohr 1. That was actually conducted by Colin Davis, however.
Your upcoming performance makes me wish I lived closer to Richmond.
Best regards,

I agree the Spohr concertos are great works for the instruments and should have alot more performances than they do. I'm playing the third concerto in May in Romania.
For other recordings of the 1st, try Colin Lawson's on period instruments with the Hanover Band or Tony Pay's on modern with the RPO. The disc has Nos. 1 and 2.
Good luck with the concert.
