Beautiful playing! I'm so happy to hear string quartets performed by a fine clarinet quartet.

Sam, nice arrangement!
David Jones did the exact same Bartok arrangment that the Army Field Band Quartet played at ClarFest when it was in MD (Va possibly) a while back.
I have a recording of them doing it and it sounds identical though the speeds are quicker for the Allegro molto capriccioso ( 7:31 )
Then again the quartet is the quartet so the notes would be the same.
That mvt is fun to work out to.
Great stuff!

David,
Do you mean Brian Jones instead of David Jones?

Thanks so much for all the positive feedback.
We are expecting to receive our first commission later this week, a clarinet quartet by Dana Wilson. We will be giving its first performance at the Oklahoma Clarinet Symposium this summer. Hopefully we will have a chance to do a studio recording of the new work later this year as well.

A bit of a late reply sorry (only just joined the forum, first post). Really enjoyed your version of the Bartok quartet, prefer it to most string performances I have heard (but then I am biased toward woodwind
Thanks for putting it up for download (will have to check the beethoven too).
I posted it on my blog (hope you dont mind, will remove it if you do) also linked it to a lecture about Bartok`s second quartet from Gresham College

You guys play OK! Having the viola part done by an A clarinet is a neat idea.
The Bartok suits such an arrangment best. You guys are living in clarinet heaven...with a pension too!
Good luck and thanks for the download!!
