Here are a few things to remember.

1. Follow instructions. If you're told to start at measure 28, and it has one note followed by rests and then a solo passage, you MUST play the one note and the rests.

2. Play slightly slower than your best speed. Slow and accurate wins over fast and sloppy every time.

3. Don't jump in an instant after you're asked for something. Wait a couple of beats before you start.

4. More points are lost for inaccurate rhythm than for any other flaw. Count like crazy, and count twice as hard during the rests.

Have fun and good luck.

Calm yourself right before you play.

And remember that almost everyone who auditions will walk out thinking "jeez, that was pretty bad........."

It's he who plays least worst that wins in that case.

They get the best out of most if not all. Don't count yourself out yet.....

Find out your score areas and work on em so that next year you will be better able to score more highly.

Nothing beats nerves more than being highly prepared.

The first audition is like the first pancake.

I ditto David B.'s advice.

And be proud of yourself for actually going through with the audition. Learn from the experience and rebuild towards next year.

Nerves always got the best of me. The only way I got better at nerves was to perform in front of people more often.

one thing you can do to try to help your nerves is to set up mock "auditions" with your parents, your band teacher and some other students in the room, your clarinet teacher if you have one, etc. etc. The more you do it, the easier it may become.

Welcome to the club! Don't give up but look for excuses to do mock auditions as Alexi said. The better you know your music and the more you play in public, the better. Look forward....
