Just noticed that the NYPO personnel manager is an old fellow band mate of mine from the 1960's University of Wisconsin Concert Band. He played 4th french horn and was the official marching band photographer (with an "everywhere" pass) during our appearance in the 1962 Rose Bowl game in Pasadena. Hmmm, maybe I should give him a call--he might remember that "ok" second chair clarinetist........................lol

I'd love to be a rat in the woodwork to observe that audition. Yeeeoowie...! Imagine the mixture of anxiety, hope and self-confidence (or hubris...) that must roil musicians' minds when they try out to fill the spot left open after a 60-year tenure.

Looking at the NYPO audition site, it's kind of disturbuing to realize that I have a better shot at the section bass job than I do the principal clarinet job.
