i received my Legere reed #3 1/2 today. It looks different then i excepted. It is clear in color and feels a little different then the normal reed. I must say that first impression is that the product is about a 9 on a scale of 10. I want to thank all of you that gave positive feedback on the product. This is the reason i ordered it.
peace

I bought two. This is what I did.
I peeled off the seal on top of the reed since I did not like anything between ligature and reed. It was OK.
I tried to sand one. This brought about a disastrous result.Fibers was broken and the reed became useless. Now I keep the good one into a ReedGuard to avoid warping.

If you had read theinstructions that came with the reed it says "never ever try sanding." It also says to store in a non pressure case.
Do you like the reed.

I had to laugh a bit when I read Hiroshi's post. I too have had the strong urge to experiment many times. Sometimes with VERY disastrus results. We live, we learn.

How about back in the sixties when I clamped an old edger motor to my mom's expensive lightweight English 3 speed bike and tried to jump 6 trash cans (Evel Kneivel) and ended up with both arms in casts. This, by the way, was when I switched from drums to clarinet at school as my fingers were all I could move.

Who or what broke your arms. The fall or your mother. I would vote for number 2

I think it was one of the last two cans. As for my Mom, she still reminds me of the bike now and then. English 3 speeds tend to fold up much easier than the old heavy Colombias and Schwinns that were fairly kid proof.
