Does anyone have any suggestions to give on ligatures?
I have played with a standard ligature since I learned to play the Clarinet, but lately I have begun to wonder if I could improve my sound with a particular ligature.
Any suggestions, life lessons, or recommendations would be very welcome.

But seriously, there are so many types and have been so many discussions, you might do best, as mentioned, to read some posts to get a feel for the topic. You may also then have some specific questions that could be easier addressed.
Perhaps at this point, you could give some insight into your playing, experience, etc and what you wish to change to give some idea what you might be looking for.

Not trying to take over this thread-
Does anyone know where one can get standard 2 screw ligs in large quantities at low prices?? I have tried some from Ferree's but they have a reed channel (can't be inverted) and they are a bit small for some of mouthpieces.
I am looking to replace find economical replacements from a Junior High School band so economy is important.

Assuming that some of our ligature inventors/makers have done some research, perhaps testing beyond their "superior" claims, you will find their thoughts in the multitude of US patents available by searching USPTO and/or Google Patents via clarinet AND ligature. Some more recent pats have a "laundry list" of these "famous names" as References [prior art]. Happy reading, Don

You wanna inexpensive but excellent ligature???? Make your own from velcro for about 25 cents . I have my own design which I will share with you. email me.

Depends on what you consider inexpensive...the Vandoren Masters is an exceptional inverted ligature...currently $20 at WWBW, you could probably contact Vandoren and buy a dozen for something like $150.

The Ferree's ligs are a few dollars/piece, and they just slightly fit onto a vandoren. If they were a hair bigger they would be perfect.

Lyuben ligatures are inexpensive, tough and, in my opinion, give excellent results.
