 Hello,

Gazebo Dances is by far the best piece I've ever played for band. The e-flat part is more like a solo clarinet part in e-flat. Get the music early and practice it. I envy you--what a great piece.

It is the only work for concert band Corigliano ever composed, and it is magnificantly orchestrated. Relish the eefer part, and the moment. v/r Ken

 Hello Lori,

When and where are you performing Gazebo Dances? It's been since college since I played the piece. It would be great to hear it again after all these years. I hope you are well.

Capital Wind Symphony at Rachel Schlessinger Hall in Alexandria. Either our February or May concert, not sure. It would be a Sunday matinee. Will keep you posted when I find out when. On Nov. 18 we're playing Blue Shades, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Mannin Veen, Vientos y Tangos, Vaughn Williams Variations for Wind Band, and Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Bohemians. Hope you are well too.

The school I teach at in Bethesda has a clarinet that first-timers can use in their first lesson. I looked inside today, and lo and behold, it came with a Gennusa Excellente student mouthpiece. It is a beginner instrument from Woodwind/Brasswind. It was the child's very first attempts at clarinet sounds, so he didn't sound quite like I do on it. :-)
