I wonder if anyone knows the "Small Orchestra" lineup for the accompaniment to the solo oboe, for this work by Jean Francaix ? My searches thus far have not been fruitful .

Thanks........ BobT

I think it's just the one flute, clarinet, bassoon and horn, plus strings.

That's such a beautiful piece. I heard Albrecht Meyer (principal oboe of the Berliner Philharmoniker) perform it with the Bamberger Symphoniker. It was simply gorgeous. It was recorded and broadcast over the radio, and I recorded it.

This is a dissertation I found, mostly consisting of a transcription of the piece for oboe and organ:

It was orchestrated for solo oboe, two flutes, two clarinets, two
bassoons, two horns, and a chamber section of strings.

Hope this helps.

Aah, so it's two of each winds (except oboe). The version I've heard seemed light in it's orchestral texture that I assumed it was only one of each of the others.

I've only heard the Jonathan Small/RLPO recording of this.
