I may be asking an incredibly naive question, but this is the best place I know to get an answer, or at least a lot of informed opinions. I own a R13 Vintage and an contemplating a Leblac LL Eb clarinet. (I played an Eb in junior and high school years ago.) Would anyone think that I would have difficulty moving between the two manufacturer in view of their different keying?

I know several players that have a different make Eb to their Bb/A clarinets, so it's not uncommon. Even with same make Eb and Bb/A instruments, the keywork will be different on account that they are different instruments, though it shouldn't be difficult to change between them as manufacturers do try to make them similar within the restrictions an Eb clarinet's size presents.

I would like to think that it's a matter of getting used to it. And I do agree with Chris P that manufacturers do try to make the keywork similar so as not to hinder the player when he or she changes from a Bb to A or Bb to Eb.
