Store to buy CDs in Barcelona, Spain.

I have the good fortune to be traveling to Barcelona in a little over a week from now. It is my first time there. Do any of you residents or regular visitors there know a good place to buy CDs? I'm especially interested in CDs that may not usually make it over here (USA), for example smaller labels. In particular, I'm hoping to find some of Josef Horak's bass clarinet CDs (although that may be a long shot as he's based in Prague).

Any info will be gratefully received.

T.

Probably you've heard of Ramblas, which is a great place for shopping and entertaining. And for you, here's the link how to find the bass clarinet recordings you're looking for. Hope you may order them online. Good luck!

Hi, I'm don't know any CD shops in Barcelona, but as a music minded person I would advise you to go see the 'Palau de la Música Catalana'. They have very nice tourist tours (not expensive) and their concert hall is really worth seeing! And for once, NOT from Gaudi (everything else is...).
Even better would be to see a concert there off course...

When in Europe also ask for cd:s on the Naxos label. Many of these are not available in the USA and Canada. Top class music to a very favourable price. Many of these recordings are clarinet related.

Sadly, Josef Horak passed away almost two years ago. He's buried in Brno. Most, if not all of the recordings of Due Boemi di Praga have gone out of print. Occasionally one will turn up on Amazon or eBay but, as I think you have discovered, they are hard to find on the internet -- even in Czechoslovakia if Musica Bona is any indication (though there might be the occasional small shop with something). Most of the works released on CD are from earlier LPs. You might have some luck with companies that deal in vintage vinyl, such as Parnassus or Mikrokosmos Mail Order but, even there, pickings are likely to be slim.

Best regards,
jnk

Thank you to those who replied; I appreciate the suggestions.

blue street: Thanks for the link; it gives me a good list to work with, including album cover pictures. I will definitely be rambling on Las Ramblas. And I'll look for Naxos CDs I haven't seen here.

nahoj: Thanks for the tip on the concert hall ("not Gaudi"). I hope to work it in -- so much to see there!

Jack: Out Of Print. Yes, that's what I was afraid of, since they have been so hard to find. The little I've heard of his work was so beautiful I'm hoping to find more.
