As of today the price for an M30 or M15 is $120 as WWBW. Last week the price was $60 at WWBW. It could just be me but I doubt Vandoren has done anything extraordinary in the past week to justify doubling the price. I was planning on going down to WWBW next week to play some and get one to hold me over till I have money for a Behn mouthpiece, however i really do not think they are worth $120. Any thoughts as to why the price would double?

Wait for a response from Scott Kurzweil. I just called him and alerted him to this fact and he's looking into things. It could end up being an error on their site.

Thanks Michael for the heads-up. Vandoren hasn't raised prices on this mouthpiece. Apparently we had some bad data get onto the site. The sale price is still $69.95. I should have the real price up on the site in the next 15 minutes (if the IT gods are willing).

OK - I believe the proper pricing is up on the site again. Sorry to have caused any panic (even if the panic only resided within me). Thanks again to Michael for the call. I appreciate the warning as I hadn't checked the board yet today.

If you're really planning to come to South Bend to try some pieces, please give me a call before you come down. I've been experimenting with re-working M13 mouthpieces and I would love to get some more feedback on it.

 Hi Paul,

I have been opening the top of the facing curve to make it respond better for me and to open up the sound a bit. I've also been slightly scooping the baffle and chamber to darken the tone quality slightly. Its basically the same mouthpiece that Jerry Hall and I did for the WWBW that Hans Zinner was making.

I've been looking for a good blank so I can produce my own mouthpiece as well as Jerry's JC2 (I regret I haven't got the funds to have my own core made). The Vandoren M13 is the closest to the baffle and chamber that I want so it requires less hand work from me. I've got about five of my students or former students playing on these now and they seem to be having good success with it.
