Yep, hard to find. But read "How To Choose an Artist Clarinet", by Jack Snavely, in The Clarinet, May 1991. Or,if you are going to France, spend some at the factories, then bring one home and find a good technician. You will then have your artist clarinet. . My own story is probably more typical. I bought a used Leblanc Concerto from a high school student, who bought it from a discount dealer, sight unseen, through the mail. I was lucky. It was my artist clarinet!. The one I had been looking for all these 70 years!..

Or you can settle for someone else's Artist Clarinet when they're through with it.

I believe I have mine at home. A leblanc opus. Formerly someone else's "Artist Clarinet" (a retired Air Force Clarinetist who picked it out and had it worked on by Morrie Backun). Now it will be my artist clarinet while I work as an Army Clarinetist and gain enough skills to do some pit work or subbing here or there (I'm starting to gain enough confidence that I can make it!!!)

PS - 70 years! My goodness it musta felt good to finally find it!!!!
