 Francaix Recording

Hello everyone,

I have recently been searching through amazon.com (and .co.uk), eBay, and a bunch of other places trying to find a recording (either the Ashkenazy, Gabai, or Cuper) of the Francaix Concerto. Unfortunately, all three are not produced anymore and, even more unfortunate, all of the recordings I have been told are excellent. Can anyone suggest how to attain one of these recordings? For my purposes, it's important it have the orchestral background otherwise I'd just go online and gather one of the many college recital recordings you can find from a google search. I've even tried the Library of Congress to no avail (they have the Gabai recording but on LP which does me little good).

Any help is appreciated.

-Robert

I have a recording of the Francaix concerto played by Eduard Brunner.
It's very good and is on the Koch Schwann label recorded in 1996.
Maybe you could search for that on the net.

Thanks for the help. Seems that the Brunner recording is also out of print and not available. A couple of people have extended helping arms in this so my problem has been resolved. Thanks to everyone for the help.

You could check at Arkiv Music - they often have hard to find recordings or imports. I can't guarantee they'll have exactly what you're looking for but its a fun website to look through in general. You can browse by Composer, Conductor, Performer or Ensemble.
