Keep in mind that the more severe "older" taper Moennig barrels
were designed to correct for the problems of the day. There were musicians using mouthpieces with wider exit bores that were designed for other clarinet brands.
Additionally, Moennig would adjust the bell tenon length to compensate for acoustical changes when his barrel was adopted.
Since that time, the bores and mouthpiece chambers have evolved, as well as register tube placement, etc.
All this should be considered when picking up a barrel of any make.
