I play on a Buffet R-13 and I haven't been very exited about the barrel that came with the horn. I like the solid, classical sound, and when I've tried other barrels where I might like the sound, the 12ths arn't lining up so well as with the original barrel. Are there any suggestions toward looking at barrels?

I have found that barrels are like mouthpieces where even within models they don't all respond alike. I would say if there is a store near you that stocks barrels reguarly try as many as possible in the same model. So far I have found that the deg barrel isn't too bad. I have been trying to find a replacement barrel for my series 9 selmer and my yamaha custom a clarinet, so I know how fustrating the search for a barrel can be. The good news is that you can find a lot of buffet barrels on ebay fairly cheep as well, and usually you can resell them again if they don't work for you, so you may want to try that. Good luck!
