Serial numbers

I'm talking to someone about a Selmer wood clarinet. She can't tell me the model but she had the serial # 78347. Is there a place that tells what model a particular clarinet is by serial number? Thanks, Burt

As far as I know there is no definitive serial number list for Selmer USA clarinets, but I've been working at creating one of my own.

If it is a wooden Selmer USA with a serial number of 78347 it would be a Signet Special, or a Signet Special MAZZEO model from approximately 1969 or 1970.

Both of the above clarinets would have the model on the top joint.
