I reviewed the earlier post about 'clarinets of questionable quality' and wonder if there is a list of acceptable brands and models for the beginner and intermediate student in the old posts. If not, could someone post a list here? Thanks, Burt

"Big Four"--Buffet, Selmer, LeBlanc, Yamaha, for starters. Now, do your search.

It might actually be good to check the reference I gave rather than repeating the content ...

 Hi Burt,

If I were going to buy another clarinet I would seriously consider http://www.ridenourclarinetproducts.com/clarinets.htm

Do a search on this and the others.

 Good luck!

 ...Jim

Perhaps another clarinet ... but the Ridenour clarinet is $300-$400 more than the clarinets already listed and the resale value (especially important for a beginner clarinet) has not been well established. The resale value question is also a current drawback to the Forte clarinet.

If you don't care about resale value the Forte would be a good one to get because it isn't quite as expensive as the Ridenour. The Forte is under $500.00 for a good instrument with good warranty.

Hi Mark, Thanks for the info. I've been doing a little surfing on the net and have a couple of questions.
 1. Is the Bundy still being made and is it the same as the Selmer Bundy?
 2. The name Vito appears in a couple of places under different manufacturers. Which company's Vito are you recommending?

 Thanks, Burt
