I just got a Vandoren B45 mouthpiece and am not sure which type of reed / barrel would work best for this mouthpiece?

Hi, I have found the Vandoren 56 rue Lepic #3 works best for me with the B45. The strength will vary a bit within a box. You may find the sound with this combination a bit bright, but it has a good resonance, full and centered sound. As for the barrel, what clarinet are you playing?

I'd wait on the new barrel for now.

Don't confuse too many variables at one time.

Learn to play the mouthpiece first...GBK

I actually prefer the Rico Grand Concert Evolution, I find there is more clarity to the sound. I have a B45 mouthpeice on a R13. I also like the Gonzalez Regular Cut, it is more suited for a medium long facings like the B45 than the FOF. Remember the vamp of the reed should match to the mouthpeice facing.

 Hope this helps
