I'm wondering if anyone can help me with this.
I'm performing this with my orchestra next month, and the librarian is having some difficulty getting the orchestra parts. Does anyone have access to a copy of this?
Thanks!
Chris

Hey, I played it a couple years ago with the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra,
Their number is 214-528-7747. Call them and ask the librarian if you want. They got it from some place in NY.

Thanks!
I just got a call from our librarian telling me that she found it from two sources: One charges a rental fee of $1000, and the other one $75. What a difference!

Chris, I would have thought you would play BOTH the solo AND orchestral parts yourself simultaneously.
Save big bucks.

Your librarian does, of course, know that the "Variations (in C) for Clarinet and Small Orchestra" is not the same work as the "Introduction, Theme and Variations for Clarinet and Orchestra," right? The reason I mention this is that, our conductor didn't (and he has a degree in clarinet performance).
Just in case, the lowest-cost edition I was able to find a few years ago was the David Hite edition at Southern Music -- as I recall it was around $125. Perhaps, because the parts are photocopies of handwritten parts, Southern has lowered the cost.
Best regards,
jnk

Thanks! She does know that there are two different pieces; in fact, when we last performed this 15 years ago, she was the one who told me about the other piece, and checked to see which one I was playing.
We're doing the Hite edition.

Wasn't this originally set for the C clarinet, the better to accommodate Rossini's clarinet playing buddy who preferred the concert pitched horn over the Bb clarinet? it's been eons since I've seen it, but I recall that factoid from somewhere.

Yes, the "Variations in C for Clarinet" were originally for C clarinet. The "Introduction, Theme & Variations in Eb" are for Bb clarinet.
