His playing is even better
There are a number of Ken Peplowski videos available for viewing.
They don't get much better than this one:

Thanks for the video link!
For sure he's a great musician. And I also enjoy his sense of humor. He's been touring frequently in my country, but sorry to say I'd never had the opportunity to see him live.

I think Peplowski is one of the more imaginative clarinet players out there...great sound and fantastic approach.

D Dow, "imaginative clarinet players out there"
He truely does exhibite phenominal technique and plays quite well, but I hear a lot of "formula" licks in his performance that remind me of other jazz greats, Benny Goodman in his prime, to name just one. However, in spite of the feeling, "I've heard THAT before", I would love to hear an entire live concert some time. Thanks for the posting.
And how about that guitarist--he was great as well, although brief...........(too bad).

I guess I'm getting to be old, but I'm so amazed at the technology that is available to us now online. In fact, I'm still getting over the fact that we can GO online.
What an amazing tool (video) to use for learning. I may never be able to play as well as Mr. Peplowski (understatement), but it's so great to be able to watch him play.
Thanks!!

Did you read any of his blog? I feel better knowing people of his talent get abused by thoughtless audience members just like I do !

You really hit the point. All those nasty people, where do they all come from? It happens to me too. Glad to know I'm not the only one!

I agree. Yes, I read some of his blog and found it familiar territory. You can never please everyone. Sometimes only a few people, but that one nasty comment will stick with you longer than a compliment.

Did it ever occur to William that alot of jazz is formulated on a set of turn-arounds and basic riffs...???
In fact I would like to hear how original William sounds...especaillly in the jazz idiom on the clarinet..maybe he would post a few musical examples for us of his playing....
I was in fact pointing towards the tonal and musical concept of Peplowiski...not a blog or a comparison to another artist...he has a pretty nice sound and great feel...he also has a deeper and warmer sound than Goodman...who in spite of his greatness is not my favorite jazz clarinetist.

Not too surprising that some of his stuff is reminiscent of Goodman since he actually played with Goodman for awhile. Started out doing polkas in Cleveland.
