I recently lost my dampit, and I'm doomed since it's said to be REALLY dry(at least where I live) for the next few weeks or so. Is there a way for me to use something as a substitute for the dampit? Can I just use a regular sponge for my clarinet? I guess I could go out and get another one(dampit), but still, I was wondering if it if would be okay to use any regular old sponge...

 Well, thanks!

Punch a few holes in a plastic 35mm film canister and insert a lightly dampened sponge....GBK

 Orange peel

 or my favorite:
Humistat, available wherever fine cigars are sold (requires a gratis Cohiba sent to yours truly for suggesting it), or available through music retailers. You can see it on the middle of the page of this link.
