The Clarinet 12 Days of Xmas
Author: GBK
Date:   2006-12-16 18:33

It's time to revisit last year's popular group effort.

Everyone sing along:

"On the 12th day of Xmas, my true love gave to me..."

12 scales to practice
11 Baermann etudes
10 Morre reeds
9 fingers leaping
8 Eefers squeeking
7 swabs a swabbin'
6 months of lessons
5 t-u-n-i-n-g rings
4 tubes of cork grease
3 Legere reeds
2 Moennig barrels
and a Robert Marcellus CD

...GBK

GBK - thanks, you just got that ever so repetitive and annoying "christmas" tune stuck in my head.

Without music, the world would be grey, very grey.

hey,
we just wrote a great Xmas entertainment: 12 Daze. It does like one chorus of 12 then goes off and does some great harmonizing on other carols. (ww5)

It could be worse . . "12 Days of Xmas" is heard for only a few weeks each year, but some songs never seem to die. I just hope "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" and "There's a Hole in the Bottom of the Sea" don't gain in popularity. Eu

On the other hand, I DID find some interesting tales as to the origin of the Twelve Days items....google did a good job on that one.

I put "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" and Jingle Bell Rock"below "Little Drummer Boy" except for Johnny Cash"s Drummer Boy. If you haven't heard it you have missed something.

Sorry what's so special about Robert Marcellus? In my opinion he's very forgettable.

Oh, you’d beter watch out, you’d better not shout
You’d better not cry, I’m gelling you why,
Santa Claus is coming to town.

He sees you when you’re squeaking
He knows when you’re a fake
He knows if you’ve been in tune, or not
So you’d better be off 14 cents or a forth or somewhere within a twelfth of a third, or… who cares!!!!

Oh, you’d better watch out, you’d better not fortissimo
You’d better not gliss, I’m telling you this,
Santa Claus is Robert Marcellus

Oh, this is CPW's landlord.
There appears to be some problem. A chalkmark in the shape of a body is on the floor, and a guy named Grissom wants to question me.
I will log off.
What does CSI mean?

Monroeville Times
Monday December 18 2006
2355 EST

A bizarre hermit, known only by his initials CPW was rushed to Allegheney General Hospital after being found in a state of aggitation by his landlord.

Joe Glutz, proprietor of the Donax Inn and Trailer Park, found the crumpled tennant writhing on the floor amidst some form of wood shavings resembling bamboo.
"He was rambling on about someone named Mark Sellis and how someone from Iceland was out to get him. Maybe it was a flashback to the Bobby Fischer chess match, I don't know, but he kept pounding his chest and yelling 'sacrilege'," said Glutz.
CPW was known as a loner whose half-wide trailer was heard to emit odd sounds late at night resembling cuckoo birds. Some observers thought he was heavily into cheap wine, owing to his constant discussion of Rose`. A group of passersby, prefering to remain anonymous, stated that he was admittedly "unbalanced" and thought that the rough thistles and rushes in the nearby creek could be used to rebalance himself.
Pittsburgh CSU is curremtly reviewing the victim's computer for clues.
Medical examiner, Cyril Wecht, stated that they will be questioning the recipient of CPW's last email. It was sent, he stated, to another eponymous person, a GBK, and also included allusions to this Marcellus (sic) person, and to someone, perhaps apopchryphal, from Iceland.
A news conference is scheduled for tomorrow.

What was that bright light?
Szell was conducting Cap. Espagnol
The Clarinetist was Marcellus
I am revived.

Now what do I do with the sympathy cards?
I know. I will mail them to Iceland.

Against the windmills of my mind
The jousting pole splinters
