I placed an order with Davie Cane last week for some regular cut Gonzalez Bb reeds and my Visa card was not debited nor have the reeds arrived. Tried to call and got an answering machine. Is there any news on these people?

I got an e-mail from Davie Cane at the beginning of Oct. informing me that they are no longer receiving any stock and will be closing the business as of Dec. 31.

website says they are moving to Las Vegas
Hopefully the rhizomes will follow them, psychedelic roots and all......
Can you get the material from Omar Henderson or other sources?

Phil Shapiro (Davie Cane) relocated to Las Vegas a number of months ago.
He is teaching privately as well as playing in one of the Las Vegas orchestras ...GBK

If the business is closing, that is very unfortunate. That was the best cane I could find for reedmaking. Back to the drawing board I guess.

His web site took my order and it was confirmed a few hours later but Visa has never been billed. I sent him an email last Friday and it is unanswered. His 866 toll free number is still active but you only get an answering machine.
I really liked doing business with this company/individual, transactions were always filled promptly and correctly. I'll let this go a while longer but hate to leave unbilled visa claims floating around.

I ordered clarinet and saxophone reeds from Davie Cane about three weeks ago and received them last week. Everything seemed to work normally, including the credit card payment.

I just got an email from Omar Henderson, who is in Spain at the moment. He says he still sells Gonzalez reeds. Also Conn-Selmer has taken over distribution and supply line is still intact. Nice to know!

If Davie Cane is no more, I hope Dr. H expands his Gonzalez offerings to include saxophone reeds.

I second Cosmicjello's recommendation.
They also have very reasonable int'l shipping rates.

It has now been 16 days since my order was placed and confirmed by Davie Cane. My emails have fallen on deaf ears, my Visa has not been debited and when you call you get a machine. If a company is going out of business they should take down their order entry software or at least put a big warning on their home page. I could have ordered these reeds from any number of suppliers and had them last week. However, the minute I place an order with Music123, etc...I'm certain Davie Cane will resurrect itself, debit my Visa and send me reeds. Situations like this tend to be a bit irritating.

Have you sent a message to cancel the order or just to find out what's been going on with the company?
Send a message, or leave a voicemail message about a specific cancellation since you're uncomfortable with the situation (if you just want to get reeds somewhere else and forget about this order), and then go an order somewhere else. Davie Cane has always been a solidly reputable company, and if you get charged by accident after you make your order somewhere else you should not worry about a timely refund. If someone is available to charge your card, they are also available to get your messages about cancellation. It's really not as big of a deal as it might seem, judging from your posts.

Just to let everyone know I heard from Davie Cane this morning, Dec. 19, and just received confirmation that the order was shipped although a quick check indicates my Visa has yet to be debited. Unfortunately, I am out of the country at the moment but USPS holds the mail for PO boxes 30 days and I'll be back before then. Here is the email I received.
"Sorry for the poor service. I’ve been having pretty serious family problems and it’s been interfering with running the business. Your order will ship out tomorrow without fail.
Have a wonderful holiday!
All the best,

Just to make this situation even more confusing, there is a large Davie Cane ad in the latest Clarinet magazine giving their address as still in Florida!

regarding the comparison between shipping prices for 1stop cl shop and the doctor, i live in new zealand and was to be charged US$9.95 to ship 1 packet of 10 reeds from 1 stop cl shop and US$2.35, or maybe $2.50 by the doctor.
the doctor's prices for the reeds were about $2 more expensive at the time but that was more than compensated for by the lower shipping cost.
btw - an order for an oiling rod and small mop just arrived and omar included a large mop free of charge because he thought i should have the complete set!!!
disclaimer - i am a beginning clarinetist who would only receive an endorsment to stop me playing.

As a final note on this little saga the reeds were delivered on Dec. 24 but I didn't get back in the country until Dec. 29 to pick them up. All was in order and I remain a loyal customer of Davie Cane.
