altissimo register/double lip question

One of my students recently attended a master class with Stoltzman and asked
about the altissimo register and how he played it with such ease. He does play
double lip and his answer was" thin lip." I also studied with Kal Opperman and don't recall him using that term. Is he referring to using less of the lip as to not
dampen the frequencies in that register.?

I believe you are correct in your assumption.

this technique is also described on page 172 of "The Cambridge Companion to Clarinet." The article is by Roger Heaton called "The contemporary clarinet."

His description refers to "a short lip .... where as little of the lower lip damps the reed."
