 Backun "Orchestra"

Has anyone on here tried either the Backun "Orchestra" or "Philadelphia" Mouthpiece? And if you have, which model would you recommend the most. Because im still on a search for a big, dark, sound with amazing projection, and i havent found that mouthpiece that had all those qualities. I know that a mouthpiece doesnt make a player, but it can really make a huge difference in playing. Price is not a burden for me, sound is most important to me.

I've tried both. This summer, I had the friendly folks at Backun Musical send me 5 mouthpieces to try - 2 traditional, 2 orchestra, and 1 philadelphia. I liked the traditional ones quite well, but they were similar enough to my Hawkins that I didn't see any point in buying them. A very nice mouthpiece, just like my Hawkins. I tried the Orchestra mouthpieces, and one of them really stood out to me. Had great sound and projection, and it seemed that I was able to get more air through it than most mouthpieces. I really liked it immediately, and like it even more now, some 4 months later. I also tried the Philedelphia, and found it too open for me, almost like too much of a good thing, at least for my chops. I'm sure other people like the other models better, but for me the Orchestra model was a perfect fit. I use Grand Concert 4, or Gonzalez 4 or legere 3.5 or 3.75 - all work quite well with it. You really need to audition more than one mouthpiece (IMO), then you'll know for sure - you can never tell by someone else's experience what will work for you!
