 Baerman 3.. Missing Harmonic?

I have just bought the baerman 3. division.. and now realised it is missing all the harmonic minor scales.. Does anyone know why?

That's a good question, but you can turn them into harmonic minor scales pretty easily... I've often seen scale books that choose to either include the natural, harmonic or the melodic minor, but not all. I think it's intended that the student learn the difference and modify them accordingly at sight to play either a natural, harmonic or melodic minor scale.

It's also missing scales in fourths and a good minor third exercise. But it is still the Bible.

One of my teachers said you don't encounter harmonic minors in melodies very often because of the augmented second between steps six and seven. I can't remember any harmonic minors an any thing I have played but I am sure there must be some. They were probably rare in Baerman's time now composers write anything and everything.

sure, if you don't encounter minor keys, Bach, Charlie Parker or any jazz, klezmer or other ethnic music, you could avoid harmonic minor altogether :)

Not all minor keys just the harmonic minor in a complete form or containing the augmented second.
