Live recording of our harmonie (fixed)
Author: OpusII
Date:   2006-11-02 09:10

We’ve played at a contest with our “Harmonie” (sort of community band) orchestra and there where some live recordings made at the contest. It’s a amateur orchestra, but I think we’ve done a nice job.
We’ve played the following pieces:
1 - Symphonic Dance - Sergei Rachmaninoff
2 - Yiddish Dances - Adam Gorb
3 - UFO - V Objects - Michael Daugherty
4 - Latin-American Symphonette - IV Conga - Morton Gould

I would like to share the recordings with you, just for fun.

When our band is this good I'll share some recordings too.

'Yiddish Dances - Adam Gorb' - I was only talking about this the other day to a horn player and couldn't for the life of me remember who wrote it!

Haven't played that for ages!

The opinions I express are my own.

Hi,

This is not your average group but an excellent playing ensemble. Wow.

What is the size and some of the instrumentation (my guess is about 45-60 player including some nice percussion and English Horn work). A very tight group.

Congratulations.

Hi Hank,

I think that there where about 72 players on stage.

And thank you ;)

Thanks.

This is a wonderful group much like a local community college band that I play with every Monday evening. We play very a similar syle of music with about the same level of diffculty. Last Monday's Halloween concert program included Rocky Point Holiday, Poet & Peasant, and Danse Macabre among the offerings.

We, that is,

www.harmonie-schelle.net

will be playing the yiddisch dances too during the 'klankkleur' (www.klankkleur.com - only really live later this month) concerts in januari.

The orchestra is more or less the same size. Though 'fotoalbum' -> klankleur -> 2005 you can see the 'action' from last year.

At first I didn't really like the Yiddisch dances, but now we're getting better at it, it starts to be fun.

Nice performance by the way, just listened to it.

To all,

I hope that you've enjoyed the performance, the recording will be online available until 9 November 2006.

Have fun with Yiddish Dances BelgianClarinet, it's a real fun piece to play (but especially for the Eb clarinet, I've enjoyed every minute when I played Eb in this piece!)
